Tea shop owner stabbed to death in WB's Medinipur district , accused arrested

In a shocking incident in East Medinipur district of West Bengal, a tea shop owner was stabbed to death in broad daylight by a young man for allegedly refusing to serve him tea without clearing his dues. The accused, identified as Shrimant Pal, was later arrested by the police and a murder case has been filed against him.

The incident took place on Sunday noon in Shankarkhali village of Panchayat No. 1 of Kharai No. 1 village of Shaheed Matangini block. According to reports, Shrimant Pal visited the tea stall of Kushdhaj Samant and asked for tea, but a dispute arose between them over unpaid dues. During the argument, Shrimant Pal allegedly stabbed the shopkeeper in the chest with a knife, causing him to fall to the ground bleeding.

The victim was rushed to Paikpadi Health Center in Kolaghat for treatment, but was declared dead by the doctors upon examination. The news of the incident spread like wildfire in the area, and the locals surrounded the accused youth's house, creating a tense situation. The police were informed of the incident, and heavy police force from Tamluk police station reached the spot to bring the situation under control.

Sek Serajul, the head of the local panchayat, claimed that Shrimant Pal was mentally disturbed and had been drinking alcohol from illegal liquor shops in the area. He demanded the immediate removal of all such shops from the area.

The police are currently investigating the matter and trying to ascertain the motive behind the crime. Shrimant Pal will be produced in court tomorrow.
